How to remove Win XP security alert icon from the system tray?

In this article, we will show two method to remove Security Alert icon from Windows system tray.

Method 1 - Remove Security Alert icon from Control Panel
  1. Click the Start button, From the Start menu select Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel click the Security Center Icon. The Security Center window will now open.
  3. On the left of the window you will see a list of options. Click on the Change the way security Center alerts me option.
  4. In the Security Center Alert settings window you have three options:
    • Firewall
    • Auto Updates
    • Virus Protection
  5. Untick all 3 choices. Click OK.
  6. Finally Exit the Security Center and Control panel.
Method 2 - Remove Security Alert icon by running services.msc
  1. Click the Start button, From the Start menu select Run.
  2. In the Run dialogue box type: services.msc.
  3. In the services window scroll down the list until you come to Security Center.
  4. Double Click on the Security Center option. The Security Center properties window will open.
  5. In the Start Type dialogue box it should read Automatic.
  6. Click the arrow on the right of the dialogue box. From the drop down menu select Disable. Click the Apply button followed by OK to Exit the Security Center Properties Window.
  7. Finally Exit Services msc.
